The magic of a rainbow

'The Rainbow Mandalas’ - Bringing you joy, comfort and hope.

I really like the way the children and adults created and displayed rainbows to make everyone smile, maintain hope, and promote unity during the Coronavirus global crisis. In this context, rainbows also expressed gratitude to the medical and social care staff.

I am convinced that we need rainbows not only during the times of big traumas. We also need their magic when facing everyday challenges. Most people agree that a rainbow evokes a feeling of excitement and optimism.

In Christianity, a rainbow symbolises God’s promise of better times and a new beginning. It appeared on the sky when the big flood ended and Noah, his noble family and all the animals came out of the Ark.

In the ancient times, a rainbow was a bridge that the Goddess Iris used to travel from heaven to earth to deliver messages from Gods to people.

I have been fascinated by a rainbow for a long time. I find it incredible how the drops of rain and rays of the sun create such a dazzling display of colours. It also excites me because although we normally see an arch, a rainbow is a full circle. A circle, symbolising infinity and completeness, is the most dominant shape in nature. Another important aspect is that the seven rainbow colours correspond with seven energy centres – chakras. And of course, seven is a lucky number.

For all these reasons, I incorporated all the colours of the rainbow in a couple of mandalas which I created during the lockdown in April 2020, I named them the ‘Rainbow Mandalas’. I have recently re-designed them, and I am pleased to present to you their latest version.

Colours and light have incredible impact on our health and well-being. Take a few moments to meditate on the colours of these mandalas. Let them bring you hope, soothe you and enchant you.

‘The Rainbow Mandala with a peach flower and blue hearts’ resembles ‘a stained glass’ window. The blue frames bring in peacefulness and infinity while magenta ‘columns’ give it a sparkling effect.

‘The Rainbow Mandala with a colourful sun’ vibrates the energy of all the rainbow colours. Its blue middle together with the blue frame give this mandala the feeling of tranquillity and expansion. The subtle pink background symbolises unconditional love and gentility.
